Detail-oriented, considerate, and curious... is how I would describe my approach to experience design in three words. Coming from a cognitive science research background, my design focuses on how we problem-solve, learn, and remember. With my history as a math tutor, I have a passion for education and patience working with people. Finally, as a life-long gamer, I have a deep interest in making experiences enjoyable, memorable, and even fantastical.

To re-imagine K-12 science education and encourage young generations to innovate, students will solve context-driven problems within a collaborative, educational game. By working with educators, this game will be developed to increase student curiosity, confidence, and motivation.

Project Description

Among the sciences, physics may seem like the stricter, less-inviting of the main subjects students must learn during their K-12 education. After all, it’s more reliant on math, has a male-dominated history, and is oftentimes less intuitive than subjects like biology. EigenPuzzle aims to make physics more approachable, engaging, and sociable by allowing pairs of students to solve puzzles and witness the basic laws of physics in action. EigenPuzzle’s levels will teach students minor lessons about forces and motion, especially as they relate to friction, gravity, and collisions. It’s goal will be to enrich and support classroom content. While there are many games out there with this goal, EigenPuzzle’s collaborative design sets it apart. Success in the game relies on communication. EigenPuzzle will allow students to choose between playing as a “Scientist” who measures environmental properties, or an “Engineer” who builds machines based on those properties. Together, the two must determine what simple machines to build and how to put them together. Through experiencing teamwork and physics, students playing EigenPuzzle will have a new appreciation for and understanding of science.

Let's get to know each other.
