To combat trauma support barriers, this project empowers adults To support one another by structuring and facilitating dialogue within support groups, using AI and immersive technologies to foster connection, engagement, and a sense of control over their environment & interactions.
In the face of the increasingly digital age, what if technology could be used to connect rather than disconnect? In response to the growing need for trauma support & connection, The Collective is a remote, peer-support platform which empowers adults to support one another, by addressing barriers to accessing support (such as a shortage of mental health professionals, workforce burnout, insurance coverage challenges, time constraints, cost, and distance). The Collective also combats barriers to seeking support in the first place, stigmas (such as isolation, fear of judgement, or the need to feel in control). It does this in 3 ways: (1) By providing anonymity through avatars, users can be less afraid of judgement and more focused on healing. (2) By providing remote access from any device to join peer-support groups in seconds, users can instantly connect with a community of people who can relate to their unique traumatic experiences. (3) By structuring group discussions with a queue, agenda, and the ability to opt in or opt out, users can control their level of engagement.
Let's get to know each other.
